Tent does great in heavy rain and there is plenty of room to store camp gear under fly. I've camped a lot with my son and it is very comfortable for the two of us. The major drawback is significant condensation that forms on the inside of the fly. We've tried completely opening both sides and fully unzipped and it seems we have as much condensation inside as the heavy dew on the outside. We never get wet, that's important. Drying the fly out is a beast as the fabric is so water proof it just doesn't dry quickly. This fly really needs a vent. Other this single draw back we love it. If Bean offers a fly with a vent I'd buy it. 3 stars as a result.
I used the Mountain Light on a motorcycle trip up the east side of the Sierras for a week and found it to meet my needs. There isn't much I can add to what's already been said but I will reiterate - this is NOT a 2-man tent unless you're really, really close to the person you're with. Liked the large vestibules and easy set up. You really can't use it without the fly unless you don't mind being highly visible and there is no window for breezes if you happen to face the wrong way to catch the evening winds. Overall - not impressed.
This is a good tent with lots of room inside and in vestibules. My only complaints (those of an aging camper): the clips hurt my arthritic thumbs, and the doors are not big enough to squeeze a nice, thick double air mattress when we're car camping.
We use this tent to backpack in near to where we explore caves so we need a tent that is light, durable and has ample space. Set up is incredibly easy. The vestibules provide ample space for our other gear, and the entries are quite convenient. No crawling over each other to get in and out. Zippers operate smoothly, and the rain fly comes low enough to the ground.
