Just got the vacuum bottle yesterday, tested it, and was extremely happy with its performance. Boiling water dropped 10 degrees at 4 hrs, and another 10 degrees at 8 hrs and at 12 hrs, which means the water was still VERY hot at the end of the day. The bottle was cool to the touch on the outside the entire time. It's a beautiful, well-made bottle.
This is the first negative review I have ever written on an L.L. Bean product. I work 12 hour shifts overnight and needed a thermos to keep my coffee hot for most of the night. I was so excited when I received this thermos. For the first two weeks, my coffee was steaming hot for at least 8 hours and the exterior wall of the bottle stayed cool to the touch. Now, after owning the thermos for less than a month, the exterior wall gets hot to the touch and my coffee is lukewarm within 2 hours. So disappointed. I will be calling customer service for a replacement. Hopefully, the next one will work better.
I work nights. I need hot hot coffee. Been doing the Kuerig thing. I like my local coffee. So I wanted a thermos. I knew I could count on Beans, even if the product wasn't what I expected. They would make it right. But of course it was. I put hot water in the thermos while my coffee brewed. Dumped the water. Coffee in my travel mug, and the rest in the thermos. 5 1/2 hours later I opened it for the first time to refill my cup. Steam rose out of the thermos. The coffee was as hot and smelled as yummy as when I put it in there over 5 hours earlier. I knew I could count on you LL Bean.
Really nice quality thermos, and bigger than my old one. Very useful size for hot weather especially and what do you know, it fits perfectly into a net-style carrier I have (with a shoulder-sling handle). A winner!
