A great day pack, and if you are ultralighter this pack would work ask a weekender in the summer. I would say this pack is about 20-25 liters in capacity.
The canvas is beautifully waxed and very water resistant. The leather is pebbled and wears well with time. The canvas shoulder straps are padded with sherpa which is wonderful. The only bad things about this pack are that the back panel that rest on your back is black mesh. It works well, but it clashes with the rest of the pack when it is not on your back. I probably would have been better to make the back matching canvas. The waist belt is nylon webbing, however it is colored brown to match the rest of the pack detailing. In addition to that the side pockets will barely fit a Nalgene bottle. If they were only made one inch or even a half inch longer, they could contain and fasten around a 1L Nalgene and completely buckle shut rather than bulge at the top flap.
Details that may have been left out are that there is a zipper security pocket on the underside of the pack lid.
So far so good. I read some of the review which were not too encouraging, Time will tell. But for now I'm quite happy with it. It carries more than my backpack. I go into NYC quite frequently for a weekend and like to have supplies adequate for two to three days. Changes of clothes, extra sweater etc. I very happy with it, Thre's something about the word rucksack that som-unds more adventuous than backpack.
