As many reviewers have pointed out, this is an excellent overall bag. One thing I haven't seen many mention - but is very important to me - is the firm back. This bag really holds its shape when you pack it, sits up nice when you set it on a rock to dig through it, and doesn't allow the stuff inside to smoosh into your back. I've loaded mine up with king boletes and they came through fine, where a soft back rucksack would have allowed them to smash into my back. Excellent features and terrific durability. Plus, it looks just outstanding - like something Doc Watson would have wore while traipsing across the moors.
Like the vintage look. Will be fine as a daypack. Canvas could be heavier. Stitching and seams will prove themselves over time and usage. Generally very satisfied and I know the L.L.Bean warranty will make up for any future issues. Rugerman
I have several day packs and this in my go to. Muli Functional, great fit just the right weight. I use it every day in work, laptop, slates, note books, heavy tools, samples,water bottles and more and it really takes a beating. I am in the aviation industry this pack gets thrown around alot. Yanked in every direction, production plant floors confined spaces to corporate board rooms, then weekend bike trips. The product continues to get better looking and seems to not get dirty and soiled like the nylon hitech type. For me it accommodates everything I have need for with comfort. I would really like to see real fleece on the straps or more bulk. Mr &Mrs Bean you did it once more thanks for the great work.
