I am a convert. I have been strictly a cotton guy for all my underwear, but these are the most comfortable, practical "boxers" (they really are halfway between boxers and briefs in fit) I have ever worn.
The name L.L. Bean puts on the short is "boxer short". It is a "boxer-jockey short". When you go to check-out, they finally get the name right. It is a jockey short with a leg extension. It has a fly in front. This is a major detail that they don't even list.
In spite of their goofy description, it is a great short with a mesh center area for the "keep your treasures cool" necessity.
