For the first time in 35 years of shopping at LL Bean, I had to return an item due to poor quality. The sound was terrible, the volume had two levels - loud and very loud and the radio reception was unacceptable.
I'm glad I didn't pay full price. The first one we got didn't work, but LLBean customer service came through and exceeded expectations as usual. The new one arrived and worked. The speaker is mono although the stereo input works fine. Compared to some cheap clearance battery speakers from elsewhere, this didn't compare. However, for my girls on camping trips, the crank power and radio function are fine, and if lost, no big deal. But if you like your MP3 player sound, keep looking. Sorry, I love most everything else from LLBean.
Same jack/plug as earbuds, so don't understand why it wouldn't fit every mp3 player...love having a weather radio while camping, radio reception just fine in northern Michigan. Not exceptionally loud, but that's perfect for us in the back woods. Love not using batteries. Just love this gadget, and at the price I paid, a real steal.
This is one of the best radios I have ever had. When I first took it out of the box I was thinking it wasnt going to be good at all because of its size. But I turned it on and the sound shocked me. It puts out great sound and I love the three different way I am able to charge it.
I liked it so much that I have been showing all my friends and family. Since i have gotten it I have to order about 6 radios for friends and family. And they all love it as well.
