Excellent quality chair for the money! Comfortable, easy to carry and very durable materials. Notice one of the screws were not completely coated so I called LL Bean and they exchanged the chair within a few days. It is always a pleasure dealing with a reputable company!!
Good enough for a lake - avoid salt water beaches.

The design is almost there - better back-packability would be nice along with lighter armrests to reduce the weight. Biggest problem I've found after buying 8 of these chairs over the last 6 years is durability. Steel rivets + aluminum frame + salt from dripping bodies/wet bathing suits = corrosion and failure.
We used this one on the beach because I wanted more distance between me and the sand, so that when I sit I don't land in the sand! This does the trick. STURDY as all get out. Not too heavy either. But I must say, the way it is constructed it is not convenient to actually get on your shoulders to carry, The straps twist and are not exactly adjustable so it can be hard to get on. I would change this aspect of this chair. But over all it is a good one.
I knew when I ordered this chair that it was low to the ground (great for those on-the-lawn concerts) and I was a bit worried about us sixty-something's being able to get out of it. It is not a problem. The sturdy wooden arms and the angle that it sits you make standing up fairly problem free. The chair is sturdy but light weight and east to carry. The one thing I would change is to have a better adjustment system for the back angle. The one it has works but is not real ergonomically friendly and can slip after awhile.
