I looked at several of these types of chairs before purchasing this one. I've returned the chair because, although it was very sturdy construction, the adjustable straps (that allow you to recline the chair) would not lock in place so if you wanted to recline the chair a little, eventually you'd be flat on your back because the straps just keep loosening. I couldn't ever "fix" the chair back position so this did not work out well for me.
The chair is very comfortable, especially the built-in back support.I bought this style because I have arthritis in my knees and it is difficult to get down into and out of " beach chairs". This chair was not as low and is much easier to get out of. It is easily adjustable for sitting positions, but it would be nicer if it reclined a bit more-for sun-bathing purposes. The chair is easy to carry and transport and we recently took it to Canada for a vacation by the lake. It dries quickly if caught in the rain. This was a very good purchase.
This is a fantastic chair IF you are not tall and/or heavy. I am 5'11." The back bar feels too low and hurts my backbone. Also, the strap, which is for adjusting the angle of the chair's back, does not hold tightly enough for tall and/or heavy users. So if you are medium or short in height, you will probably love the great quality and easy of carrying this chair. Tall customers need to pick a different chair.
We just received 2 chairs, one for me and my wife. The chairs are well made and we both like them, but they seem to slide back in the reclining position no matter how tight you pull the strap. This has been annoying at times. I put the straps on the outside of the arm rests and this seems to help. Good for the wilderness. OK for the beach.
