Don't expect major long range blasts of light from this, but it certainly illuminates the immediate area without batteries and that's what I needed. It would be much more user friendly if it had some sort of hole in the handle end or a built in loop for a lanyard, hence only 4 stars.
The lights aren't that bright, but it is perfect for my 2 year old to play with and it is comforting to know we have an emergency flashlight in the house that doesn't require batteries.
I love these flashlights! I bought two of them, one to give to a friend overseas where they have lots of power cuts. They look great, the light is awesome, and what is best need no betteries. What's more -- the price is good too.
