We love this LLBean crank flashlight! It is small enough to throw in a backpack and to keep in the glove compartment in the car. It also gives off enough light for anything you might need in a hurry. Also plan on giving them as gifts next Christmas.
We bought these for our kids after quickly tiring of replacing batteries from flashlights left on all night. They love cranking them and it is easy enough for a 2 year old or arthritic grandparent to work. They are pretty tough though we did manage to break one handle, but Bean replaced it quickly and the kids are cranking again! Love it! Especially with the 2 settings, comes in very handy.
I bought three of these for stocking stuffers last Christmas. I have returned all three for a complete refund (Thank you LL Bean for your fabulous return policy). All three of them stopped holding charge. Two of them only worked if you were cranking. The moment you stopped cranking, the light went dead. The third one would only stay lit for about 10 minutes (weak light only) after fully cranking for several minutes (I timed myself to make sure I was cranking for long enough). These are not worth the money.
