We bought these for our children, and they loved them! They worked great for a day and then one of them stopped charging. My boys did not beat on them, they just used them a lot-cranking is so much fun to a 4 year old! I do have to admit customer service would get a 5 star, because they replaced the one that stopped working. It's been a month and so far no more problems-except that the other one now clinks and skips when turning to charge-but it still charges. They're a perfect size for kid-hands or for purse-packing!
This flashlight was great for my 2-week visit to Africa, esp where there was rolling blackouts or really anywhere we went where there was no electricity. I love how compact this was and the colors are great for spotting in your backpack!
This is second time we had crank type flashlight that failed. Both times, it was OK for a month or so. Then it stopped charging. And I can get only a few seconds of light. Where we live right now, we constantly have power failure. So I am shopping for something else more reliable. Once we return to USA, I will return these items to L.L.Bean.
