These flashlights are durable and NEVER need batteries. My family is amazed at how long a charge lasts after just cranking the handle for a short period of time. I got 3 for each of our vehicles at Christmas. After having to raid our cars for them on numerous occasions, I am now ordering 4 more for use around our home and cottage. When all our other flashlights are out of service due to old batteries, these are ready to go with a few cranks of the handle dial. Buy one and you will come back for more!
The other night our electricity went out and I grabbed our mini to navigate around the house looking for candles. After a short cranking, it gave a wonderful light which was not just a spot, but a glow over the whole room. We've bought a 2nd one so we'll each have our own light if this occurs again. I've also used a mini we gave our granddaughter to read a book to her in her darkened room at bedtime. It made bedtime reading even more fun! Her Mom says our granddaughter will also use it when she camps out in the backyard with her Dad. The small size is very easy and comfortable to hold and makes it easy to store in any little corner of a drawer.
I live in Tokyo, Japan, and I carry one of these in my purse all the time. If there is a big quake when I'm in a building or in the subway, I'll be prepared! I'm buying these while I'm home for the summer for Christmas presents because all of my friends want one.
These worked really well. They stayed charged long enough to get us clearly from a to b in the dark. And while not a spotlight, they did shine enough light to reflect off the markers on the lake on a very dark night. Our young children could crank them fairly easily. The packaging however was awful. One of the things l appreciate about my orders is that they come in a regular cardboard box, with very little individual packaging...but not these lights!
