I loved the Tropicwear shirts for women in the ORIGINAL RELAXED FIT with the WOODEN BUTTONS! That fit enabled the shirts to be worn not only as a shirt, but also as a light-weight, sun-protective coverup/jacket over other tops. By using different tops underneath and keeping the Tropicwear shirt unbuttoned when complete cover was not needed, a different look could be created (i.e., the Saturday shirt in stripes under the unbuttoned Tropicwear shirt, or one of the Pima Cotton V-neck tops in a coordinating color under the Tropicwear shirt, etc.) Received MANY compliments when I wore that type of combination, plus it made packing for trips easier! Unfortunately, the Tropicwear shirt now comes ONLY in a fitted style which does not lend itself to the neat straight jacket look. Also, the rubber buttons are extremely difficult to button and do not really add to the look of the shirt in any way. I even have heard of women returning the shirt because of the difficulty with the buttons! The RELAXED FIT Tropicwear shirt would definitely have gotten a 5+ star rating from me, but the fitted style is just another shirt that I would recommend only with reservations. Hope LLBean will consider offering the shirt in both styles in the future before my "relaxed fit" shirts wear out!
This shirt was a perfect fit. I am tall with a long waist and many shirts are too short, but not this one. The fabric is amazingly cool. I wore it at a water park after swimming for a few hours, to minimize sun exposure. It was a hot day, but the shirt felt fine, and it did not show water marks from the wet swimsuit under it. The lime green is very bright (making it easy for my children to find me at the park).
Ordered a small just like I have for other LL Bean shirts. Nice fit, not at all boxy. I like the way the pockets lay flat for an overall smooth look. I may order more if it truly keeps the Florida sun away from my skin and if I see some brighter colors. Not really a pastel person. It gets a big YES!
