The sizing was true for me but my main interest was the SPF protection. My skin burns easily, without sunscreen. I have worn this shirt, over a tank top, several times for at least 6 hours each time. I used no sunscreen and have not burned yet. I remained cool in 90 degree heat with 75% humidity on a partly sunny day while buttoned at the neck & wrists. Will be buying this product again!
I was somewhat leery to to try this tropicwear shirt because of the reviews on the buttons, but really needed the sun protected clothing. I have no problem with the buttons. I ordered according to the size chart in the catalog and the fit is perfect. The roll up sleeves are a great feature. The material is cool enough for a hot day and the tapered fit really adds style without being too much. Very pleased I went ahead and tried this shirt.
I bought this shirt in white medium last year. It was too tight in the hips. I returned it for a large. That was way too loose. I should have returned it, but I needed the sun block protection, so I took it to a seamstress to put a couple of darts in the front and even shortened it. Also, the white is too bright. Still not happy with the shirt, but won't return it now.
I have to agree with several reviewers who were not wild about this shirt - the buttons (difficult to do/undo), style/fit (too snug for my tastes, and don't need stylish when going camping - ya need room). I returned a snug XL woman's size in exchange for a man's large (very roomy - med would probably been better - c'est la vive). Got a men's XXL for my husband. I like the men's features (back yoke esp.). I like the fabric - noticed immediate decrease in sun on my skin when I put it on - Marco Island.
