I have earlier "tropic weight" shirts from LLBean and this new one does not compare favorably.
In hot weather -- 90 degees & over -- this shirt was uncomfortably warm during a recent trip. I wore it twice and never again, using instead my 8 year old, tropic weight LLBean shirts. (Was it only a matter of washing repeatedly to soften -- or otherwise change -- the fabric on this shirt? I don't think so, as I've washed the shirt a half dozen times since returning and there seems to be no change.)
The fit, quality and price of this shirt out performs the other four famous-brand name outdoor/travel shirts I own. I'm a middle-aged active women who can easily fit in the medium size of this shirt. I wear a depressing large and extra large in the other pricey brands, and they don't look as flattering on me as this one does. It's been comfortable on hikes, cycling and as an everyday shirt. I use the secure pockets and eyewear loop a lot. Everything about this shirt is practical.
I ordered this shirt in two colors based on a previous order. The colors are great; the weight of the shirt is great. And it works well for sun protection. The only issue I have had with it is that the grommet for the roll-up sleeve is too high for me. Previous shirts of this same sort of style had the grommet about 1 inch further down the sleeve, and that length was more comfortable for me.
I bought the first one 2 years ago in white and it quickly became my "on the plane", "on a hike", "to the pool" shirt. Washes easily and dries quickly. Comfortable in hot sticky weather. Goes out to a casual meal. Had to have another! Love the loop for sunglasses and the zip pockets too.
