I had several of these shirts from LLBean and wanted to replace one. Certainly isn't the old shirt - very reduced in Quality. Cheesey colored buttons instead of the nice tortoise shell ones. SIngle stitching instead of double. Short hem rather than that nice double stitched shirt look. Sent it back.
Last year I bought one of these shirts and loved it so much, I purchased another. It has been redesigned out of a heavier fabric and they moved/added pockets. The old style had great zip pockets in the side seams at the hips. These were perfect for ID, and chapstick. The inner pocket facing.was great for holding my cell phone. I don't like pockets on my chest. LL Bean, please bring back the old style.
I bought this for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica because of the SPF, the light fabric, the wicking ability and the looks. But, I decided to wear it on a hike this past Saturday. It worked great. I started with the sleeves rolled up and unrolled them at the top due to the wind. I didn't realize how sweaty my back was until I took off my backpack and it only took a short time for the shirt to dry out. This shirt looks so nice that I hated to wear it hiking, but that's one reason why I bought it. This will be a good shirt to bring on my trip - dries easily, looks good.
I bought 2 of these shirts in different colors for traveling. I liked the thought of being able to roll up the sleeves and having the mesh lining for venting. On my recent Baltic Sea cruise they performed wonderfully. I loved the pockets, I was able to carry quite a bit in them. They paired well with either skirts or pants. They were wrinkle resistant and easily washed up well in the bathroom sink, drying overnight. They are definitely going on my next trip abroad, hiking this time. My only very slight disappointment was that they were not quite as cool as I thought they would be. Fortunately the weather was not very hot.
