My car broke down today and I happened to be wearing this shirt plus the cropped Tropicwear pants. And, I didn't have my cell phone with me. I had to walk 2 miles at high noon in 95 degree heat to get help. I'm a fair-skinned redhead and I burn very quickly and easily.
These clothes not only kept me from getting a sunburn, they also kept me cool despite the stress of the situation. I didn't feel the sun on my skin through the fabric at all.
I am going to order the shirt in two more colors and another pair of pants. In fact, I think I may even order a pair of long Tropicwear pants and a Tropicwear shirt to keep in my emergency car kit. I would have been burnt to a crisp without these!
I bought this shirt in white to use as a light cover for cool evenings and especially when I needed protection from the sun. It does exactly that and I know I will get a lot of use from it. The fit is good however for my preference I wish it was a little tapered at the hips. I decided to take it in about an inch on the sides so that it would fit me better.
I have a number of these shirts in different colors. I wear them anytime I am going to be in the sun, whether gardening, hiking, or driving. I even keep one handy to slip on when going out into the backyard with the dogs during the day. The pale colors are nice, and the shirts are well made. I highly prefer wearing them to slathering on sunscreen. I am by no means relying on the shirts for their fashion value. As a fair-skinned redhead living in the Mojave Desert, I wear them to protect my skin, and I am usually sporting residual zinc oxide on my face when I do. I try to purchase the shirts when they are on sale, but even at full price, they quickly pay for themselves by shrinking my sunscreen budget.
I love this shirt. I can wash it in the shower then hang in front of a fan and it's dry 15minutes later. Very easy to wear. The only thing I don't like is access to the pockets which have a fixed "header" which hinders me getting peppermints out fast enough for my horses after their work! I can live with that and their impatience.
