I purchased this shirt just before a road trip from south Georgia to Kentucky. I have always been bothered by the sun coming thru the car window on my arm. It was unbelievable how cool this shirt kept my arm! I purchased it because I recently heard those dreaded words "precancerous melanoma" and have been warned to use as much spf protection as I can. This shirt certainly provides it.
This shirt fits like a man's shirt - It has a large back and yoke for the front. To get it to fit my front, I bought an XL, then found the sleeves too loose, the yoke and shoulders too wide. If ONLY it had a pleat in the back beneath the yoke, a lot of these problems would be solved. Then I could get the L and it would fit front, back and hips. The one really good part of the design is the flat hem which makes it more presentable as a light shirt-jacket over T shirts. Without the pleat, though, this is going back.
This shirt size runs small......I read the reviews, & ordered XL. This way, I can wear it as a light shirt jacket over tank tops. Travels well w/o wrinkling. Gotta admit that using the word 'tropic' to describe this shirt is stretching it a bit# Tropic=humidity.......& I'd feel like a wet washcloth no matter what I was wearing....& did.......on Bimini in the Bahamas. In spite of 'tropic', I will gladly be taking these shirts on my adventures. The pockets are great! The back vent is much appreciated. Just, always choose 1 size up and you will be happy.
I am always hesitant to buy anything other than cotton, silk, linen etc. but I just had three Basel cell carcinomas removed...so I need to protect my now thin skin....the feel of this material is wonderful. Not slippery. It is cool and light. Looks great on. I am going to be doing a lot of traveling and also spending the summer at Tahoe. Going to buy another after I wash this one to see how that turns out...
