I bought the bright white shirt for summer hiking and cool evening walks. This shirt is a practical addition to my travel gear/wardrobe. Well made and smart looking. I haven't washed it yet but I think that this will be easy to care for - wash, hang on a hanger to drip dry in an hour and go, again. Perfect!
Overall, this is a great shirt. It fits well and is very functional. I bought white for maximum sun reflection since I plan to wear this shirt most often while out on the water. I do like the more fitted styling through the torso - it is fitted, but not tight. Some reviewers didn't care for this new fit, but I like it. The arms are a bit funny though - as another reviewer mentioned, they are quite roomy, which is at odds with the fitted torso - it is as though the torso was redesigned for a narrower fit, but the sleeves were left as-is. I don't have skinny arms - they are average-to-thick actually, but the sleeves are still very roomy. I also don't care for the buttons - they are hard to deal with - rubbery material that sticks to the fabric of the shirt when you try to button and unbutton the shirt.
I am using this shirt right now on a trip in India. The shirt looks neat and tidy, seems to have good sun blocking features, can block wind from a light breeze, and feels light and cool (well, as cool as one could expect to feel on a hot day). I have the pale blue color, and it's very attractive. The zippered chest pocket is handy.
There are two or three items I find annoying. 1. the freaking buttons! The buttons are not flat; they are shaped like a filled in bowl, or a slice off a sphere. in addition, they are made of some slightly flexible, rough-textured material. The result is, the shirt is VERY difficult to button and unbutton. Now, I know rugby shirts have cool rubber buttons ---- but they are flat and flexible enough to bend, and easy to get through the button holes. Personally, I have never snapped a button while wearing a shirt, nor have I been injured by a too-stiff button. I HAVE found myself cursing these buttons. Often. I will probably replace them with normal, functional buttons. 2. The shirt is narrow through the hips, so I am sometimes unable to button the bottom 1-2 buttons if I have bulky pants on. (I take 8 or 10 in pants, so I don't think I have gargantuan hips). 3. Sleeves are cut narrow, so they look nice, but I doubt I could roll them up far enough to actually use the tab fasteners.
