I bought 2 sizes in this shirt & was glad I did. It was boxy in the shoulder & underarm area so I kept the larger size and wore it more as a jacket over a "T". I took it to Mexico with 100 degree heat & strong sun. I was fully protected & at that point happy for the loser fit. I even wore it in the water snorkeling! It dried fast & looked great. I have recommended it to several friends already!
I have sun vulnerable and damaged skin. Previous reviews made me hope that LLBean had made a magic material that could protect me from the sun's rays while leaving me cool. Not so. It is a very well made durable seeming shirt that I can't stand to wear in the heat. It might do well in a sea breeze, but not in the sweltering midwest.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, material too heavy
This shirt comes with many nice features for the price, zip pockets, venting in the front and back, nice fit for my body--however, the material is too heavy for true cooling to my liking. The other feature that could be added to the shirt is venting material under the arms. I realize this would make the shirt more expensive however it would be more functional for temperatures over 75 to 80 degrees. The shirt needs to have lighter material for true cooling effect over 80 degrees. Sadly I will return the LLBean shirt with their guarantee. I am long time LLBean shopper and usually love the products, so I won't give up on shopping with LLBean.
