I purchased a medium shirt and needed an exchange to get the sizing right -- small is a perfect, flattering fit on my 5’6” small to average frame. I didn’t hesitate to buy three more in other colors for the sunscreen factor. The lightweight supple fabric in soft pastels is perfect cover from summer rays. I haven’t had any difficutly with buttoning the synthetic buttons, and I think these offer the advantage of not inadvertently ending up unbuttoned. I like that the button color is identical to the shirt. While it was my need to replace my ‘extreme gardening’ shirt that motivated my purchase of tropicwear, I am wearing these comfortable shirts for casual everyday wear.
I love the shirt. I have several in both long and short sleeve. They are great for travel... cool and comfortable worn alone, can be layered, always look neat, and easy to rinse out in the sink and dry quickly (a definite plus when packing is limited). The only down side I find are the rubber buttons... they can be tough to button or unbutton. Otherwise, I find these shirts to be a perfect travel shirt... oh, and they're great around home, too...
I didn't notice that they had changed the design, eliminating the mesh panels at the sides like my older shirts. That feature did not bother me as I always wear it over a mesh polo or tee and size up for layering. I wish that the new design had some form of ventilation at the underarm, such as grommet holes or better yet, a mesh "wedge" between sleeve and side seam. Haven't worn it yet but suspect that it will feel warmer than my older shirts on a steamy summer day, only time will tell. 4* due to lack of underarm ventilation.
