I did read the reviews, but I ordered the shirt anyway. Yes, the buttons are too big for the buttonholes, but I could have enlarged the holes. The main problem is the fit. Mature women most often as not have gained weight around their middles. A "fitted" shirt is not a comfortable shirt for us if it fits at all.
On the bright side, the shirt is handsome, the fabric is great, the features are wonderful and I am very disappointed to have to send it back.
Please, LL Bean, offer a relaxed fit sun protective shirt for those of us who want to buy your products!
I bought two the first time and like them so much that I just ordered another. Very comfortable and fit really well. I use these for travel (I like the pockets) but am sure I'll be wearing them for outdoor activities this summer. Easy to layer over a T-shirt or wear by itself. I'm 5'5', 125 lbs. and a Small fits just right.
These shirts are perfect for any warm-weather trip. They require little suitcase space, wash easily in the shower/sink and dry quickly (or overnight in more humid areas). I use the short sleeves during the day and add a matching long-sleeve shirt for cooler evenings (or mosquito protection if conditions require). I particularly like the little shirt-tab that allows me to keep my glasses handy when not needed and the pockets are well designed. The buttons are a little bit of a problem but not enough to keep me from really liking these tropicwear shirts. The tropicwear pants/shorts are also great travel garments. I sure wish LL Bean would make a travel skirt (with a couple of length options) with this same material!
