great shirt but sizing is questionable
PostedJune 3, 2010
The shirt is great but the sizing is a little off. I know they are supposed to be tight, but my very thin 12 year old is wearing a men's size large and it looks great on him. It is his favorite shirt, and so far has washed well and kept him from getting a sunburn.

XL Surf Shirt too small
PostedJune 3, 2010
The surf shirt was way too small even though I got an extra large and am slim built. I know they are designed to be tight but it was ridiculously tight. I did like the material however. This XL shirt may better fit a 12 year old boy.

great for swimming covered up
PostedMay 19, 2010
I bought this a little big after reading the reviews here and everything worked out perfectly. I only ordered one size up from normal. It is not skin tight, but not baggy either. Great coverage. Love it.

Surf Shirt--meant to swim in!!!
PostedMay 14, 2010
I need to correct all the complaints about sizing for this shirt. This SURF SHIRT is meant to be close-fitting so that when wet it does not flop around or wrap around your body in a dangerous way. It is supposed to be skin-tight but soft and very stretchy, which it is. It is supposed to protect your upper body from the sun and from abrasions from boogie-boarding/body-surfing, where a sloppy, floppy shirt could get you all tangled up. For swimming, it is supposed to be hydrodynamicly close, not obstructive. For these purposes, this shirt does run a tiny bit small, but is not as small as others have made it seem to be.
My 6'2", 195lb son wears LLBean Large shirts, and the men's XL was COMFORTABLY snug on him, but allowed full range of motion of his arms & torso. I wear a misses XS to S in LLBean tops, and the men's Small in this shirt was comfortably snug, but in no way too tight or restricting in fit. It is soft and quite stretchy.
If used for its intended purpose, this shirt has an excellent fit. If any adjustments need to be made, my son and I would recommend ordering one size up if you are on the bigger side of the size range.
