I recently purchased the 18 ounce size because I really like the larger size, but wanted something a bit smaller for hydration on shorter runs. This is an excellent bottle for running! The sport cap works well and, in addition to being safer, flavored sports drinks don't leach into the steel bottle, so plain water doesn't taste weird. I suggest also using some sort of sleeve, such as the cozy sold by L.L.Bean, because the steel bottle is cold to carry and condensation makes it slippery. A durable and safer option for running hydration.
I bought this for my husband for Valentines Day with his intials engraved on it. He LOVES it!! It is Stainless so great for the body AND enviroment and he thinks of me every time he uses it.
I love the canteen. BUT the sound it makes--honking is a good way to describe it. I have little patience with the noise either in company or alone. So (and someone else may already have suggested this--I haven't read all of the reviews) I took my hot glue gun and covered up the little hole where the sound was coming from. It's a little unsightly (I never was very coordinated with hot glue) and I don't know how long it will last, but for now, at least, it works. Drawback? Yeah, there is. The hole is meant to let water easily flow out of the mouthpiece. So now, it's not as easy to drink. But I don't like to "glug" water anyway. You'll have to decide for yourself what works best for you. By the way, some reviews I have read complained about the engraving. The engraving on my canteen is very nice and I'm very well pleased with it.
My 12 year old son thought this would be great to take to school. I am so glad he talked me into it...it keeps his water cold all day long, I save money and the environment by not having to buy water from the store, and the other kids think it is really cool because it is engraved with his name. We debated on the size, but I am glad we went with the smaller one.
