I bought this for my husband. He took it Mountain climbing. He said even after 4 hours the water was still cold in it. His only complaint was that it didn't come with a strap of some sort. I thought the same thing when I saw it. It should come with an LLBean lanyard.
... is a wonderful container for water. BUT - after a week my husband and I noticed that our water started to taste metallic. We couldn't figure it out and cleaned the containers again - thinking that we had somehow failed to clean them properly.
I read the other reviews here, so perhaps we're the only ones who taste that difference. I keep meaning to call LL Bean about this, but I'm so busy. We bought FOUR containers all at once because we wanted something that sealed and would hold a good amount of water.
ALSO, we have a really good water filter and I was wondering if that might be why - because our water isn't tap water - it's REALLY clean. Water tastes great otherwise... just not when drunk out of these containers.
ANYONE ELSE have this problem with a metallic taste?
I have gone through so many cheap water bottles! They all just end up leaking or with funky smells. So when I got my canteen in the mail I was excited to try it. So far I've had it a little over a month and I use it nearly everyday. I love it!! The only thing I can say critically is that when you get one in the mail wash it REALLY good before you use it. I had a bit of a metallic, bitter taste the first use, but when I went back and took my time cleaning the mouth it disappeared. It hasn't returned since. I have found it to be durable and easy to clean. Didn't even scratch when my dog pulled it out of my hands on a gravel trail. It doesn't retain smells or tastes when I fill it with tea or juice. PLUS, no leaks when I stuff it in a bag and run out the door! I'll never use another bottle...well worth the price!
This is one of two water bottles I bring everywhere, from running errands, going to the beach or hiking. With a 40oz capacity you will never go thirsty. It’s light and durable and better for the environment. And my other water bottle is the 28oz model.
