I found that the 40-oz. Canteen is very hard to hold onto when it's full unless you grab the small top/cover to carry it, (there is no handle). When drinking out of it, it takes two hands to hold it, again I feel as there is nothing to hold onto. It's very hard or at least I don't feel comfortable drinking out of it as the Canteen has a thin, metal edging around the top. If you don't have another glass or container in which to pour into, then you're stuck drinking out of it. Maybe I should have purchased a smaller Canteen, but then I think. . .it's not worth it, you might as well carry bottled water or a bottle of soda. Also, the wide mouth is not that wide!
The canteen itself seemed well constructed and the 40 oz capacity is nice. What didn't work for me is that the top isn't attached. I didn't see a sports cap available for this model. They just make the sports cap for the smaller canteens. I will continue using my nalgene.
