We really like this piece. It is very well made and the right size for our home (which does not have large rooms). It was easy to assemble - my husband did it by himself. The only words of caution would be: if you are going to use a DVR, stereo receiver, etc on the shelves, it is a bear to get all those wires thru the holes. That takes 2 people! We chipped up the black paint a bit. Fortunately LL Bean will send us some touch up paint.
I bought the black and it looks good. My husband assembled it alone and had a couple of minor issues with holes that didn't line up, etc. We had to enlarge the hole in the back to fit all the cables and cords and cut off one end of the back because it was about 1/8th of an inch too long. It would be better if there were shelves in each side. But the size is good for our small living room and we received it in just a few days from ordering.
Had some difficulty with the pre-drill sites not lining up properly, eventually worked it out. The screws for the knobs on the doors were too short, so that the knobs wouldn't attach properly; got different ones at my local hardware store that worked fine. Once assembled the piece is attractive. It just turned out to be a bit more work than expected to put together!
