I bought the medium based on the reviews. I am 5'11" and 175 lbs. The sleeve length fits my 34" arms fine, but they are too tight in the elbow and bicep. Overall, this snug fit would be okay on my torso if I didn't wear a shirt underneath it - but I do. And, It's too hard to get on over a long sleeve shirt. I was trying for a layering fleece jacket to go under a TEK shell but this doesn't work right, Also, the neck zips up too high and the zipper bothers my neck if not zipped all the way up. I think the quality and pockets are okay for a layering garment, but not for a stand-alone. With all the negative reviews, LL Bean should modify the design of this.
Disappointed in quality. Threads at seams are appearing. Expect that this jacket will be coming apart. Not as warm as I thought it would be. Good thing the wind doesn't blow through my house. How can this jacket withstand mountain winds?
I am 100% satisfied with the Mountain Sport Fleece Jacket. The fit is perfect for an active-wear garment; more form-fitting cut than other Bean fleece jackets, without being too snug. The side panels stretch and allow for a wide range of movement. The arms are cut long, but for me, the lenght is just right.
This is a great layering jacket for day hikes or x-country skiing. It can store compactly in a day-pack and provide a good deal of warmth when temperatures drop. It provides moderate wind protection and, most importantly, will wick away moisture generated by aerobic activity.
