I bought this jacket for a trip to Germany in Oct. I live in Florida and don't have many jackets. This was perfect to wear over a long- sleeved blouse or turtleneck and I could also layer it under a wind breaker. Temperatures were usually in the 40's. Size was accurate.
I bought this in blue about 2 years ago, for a trip to New Zealand that would involve trekking (er, tramping) in at least 2 different climates. It was perfect for the trip -- great fit and very comfortable, and worked well in a range of cool temperatures. And I've worn it constantly ever since. I really like the tailored fit, which looks good but still allows room for a long-sleeve T underneath. I recently decided I should get a second one before they stopped selling it (doesn't that always seem to happen with one's favorites). So I went to the website and was so upset to see that it was being discontinued! Only S and XS left. I kept checking back and finally snagged a teal L (I am 5'8" and medium build). Now I'm wearing the new one all the time (: LLBean, please bring this back!
I bought this jacket at the end of last season specifically for winter running. This has been the first season that I have really gotten a chance to use it and I am thrilled with it. It is perfect for running and you don't need many layers underneath to stay warm.
On thing I wish I knew before I purchased it is that this is cut to be a slim-fitting jacket. I am 5'9" and 135 lbs. I typically wear a small or extra-small in LL Bean gear and I purchased a small sized jacket. It fits well (even after several washings) and the arm lengthy is right. If I would have gone with the extra-small it would have been too small.
