First, I don't think this runs small - it runs pretty true to size (if anything it runs a little large) but it's made to be more fitted so if you're used to the traditional fit of Bean clothing, say one of their trail model fleece pullovers, it's going to feel smaller so it's best to go with a larger size.
I bought this to replace a soft-shell that had broken and while I've not been disappointed, I will say that it does not provide the same wind protection as a soft-shell and do think that it could be made to be more wind resistant.
That said, it is warm - is very comfortable, moves well with me and even though it's fitted there's enough room for a couple of thin layers and it not feel too bulky (I had a base layer of a tee, then a lightweight insulating layer).
Love the colors. Love the fit. Do feel it could be improved upon but all in all, great buy.
Beautiful jacket - very attractive and fits the body nicely. Colors are also attractive. I have this jacket in the Lily Pond Green, which is bold but very pleasing and goes so well with my greens, and the dressier & lighter color Tidal Teal. I am no more than a size 6 in blouses, but take a Medium in jacket to fit over a heavier sweater or layered shirt & cardigan. In windy, cooler weather, you need to layer. Possible Corrections: 1) Please LINE the Pockets, 2) I would LOVE TO SEE THIS JACKET IN A WINDPROOF VERSION! I have learned that windproof jackets are the best for walking/jogging, as without it, the cold wind gets right through the jacket. 3) Also, if it were possible to make it with a detachable hood, or maybe just a matching hat. Hope LLBEAN KEEPS THIS JACKET FROM YEAR TO YEAR!
i recently bought this jacket @ the l.l.bean near me ( about an hour away). i never really noticed it online before, however when i walked past it at the store i thought . . . wow what a sylish looking jacket ! ! ! so, i tried it on and it looked awesome,felt warm and comfortable. i bought it in the green which i love this color ! ! ! i usually wear a small , however this does run small . i did end up buying the small though because i will wear this not as an outerwear piece but more of an indoor sweater. i'm always cold and love the sporty look ! ! ! i will eventually love to buy another one. i only wish they were a little more affordable. . . but it is worth every penny ! ! !
lovely shape and quality craftmanship, finishing around the neck, pockets and detail with small features, zipper coverings. Extra chect pocket is great ! Lining material and side fitting staps ideal.
