I love this coat! I don't understand the complaint about the neck being cold, that's what scarves are for. I wore this coat in - zero temperatures with a hat, gloves and scarf and was comfortable. In fact I'm ordering one for a family member who moved near the Great Lakes region. The sleeves are long and can be rolled up to suit your taste. If the temperatures are above zero I just remove the hat or scarf and feel comfortable again.
Just received this as a gift; wore it last weekend in MA in 18-degree weather with 40-mile wind gusts. With a mid-layer underneath, this beautiful, luxurious-looking coat with hood kept me nice & warm in brutal temps with biting winds. Can't imagine why some have written it's not warm enough! I usually wear a small, and I got a medium - glad I did, as this coat is calf-length, and a bit more fitted than my LLB faux-shearling jacket. Very easy to care for - just toss it in the washer & dryer as instructed, and it's perfect! Very happy.
good if you want a light weight coat. but not if you live in cold regions. I had bought a faux shearling jacket from bean a couple of years ago and I love it. this coat is too light weight for winter. the sleeves are too short and you can't turn them up as needed, with the option of rolling them down as needed.
I wanted to like this coat, but unfortunately it just didn't work for me. I sized up after reading reviews, & found it a bit too roomy. Also, for where I live, the neck area is just too open & drafty. Finally, the hood didn't work for me, as it didn't allow enough length for my neck (I'm 5'7"). The zipper worked well, though, & if you prefer the sleeves finished on the faux shearling, these are (I actually prefer being able to adjust the sleeve cuffs up or down). This wasn't too much of a set-back, though, as I also purchased two colors (brown & black) in the shorter faux shearling jacket, & the knee length faux shearling in black around the same time, & absolutely Love those ones, & one can't fault LL Bean on their wonderful return policy. If this coat fits you better, the quality & workmanship are wonderful, and it is a beautiful coat.
