I love this coat it is light but very warm, my only complaint is that the zipper is too short, it needs to come to the top of the neck and down closer to the knees with a 2-way zipper, that would make it a little more cozy.
a disappointment - very rare for a Bean product. Thinner lining than expected, and appearance was very "faux" and not very shearling. a good buy at a national discounter, but not Bean quality.

This coat was bought for my wife, who is always cold and past coats have not kept her warm during these Maine winters. The shearling inside keeps her toasty warm and the hood is fantastic, even covers her neck when needed. Coat is lightweight but very warm. Just what a great wife needs, a great coat from LLBeans. This casual coat wasn't actually my first choice; I had been planning to buy a gray faux shearling from another company, but they sold out before Thanksgiving. However, I'm quite pleased with this coat. Despite the fairly straight lines, the coat isn't too tight around the hips; the rather short zipper ensures that it's not necessary to make adjustments getting into the car or when sitting. On the black, the "fleece" lining is a charcoal tipped black, resulting in a look more like an unshorn sheepskin (except weathered tips on a black fleece would be a rusty brown), especially since the fleece is rather nubby in texture rather than plush like actual shearling. As other reviewers have noted, the lining does shed quite a bit at first from the cut edges; expect to be picking bits of fluff from your clothing and the floor for the first few wearings.
