ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
I have been looking for a long toggle coat for a long time ... although the Bean (LL) carried this coat last year, I wanted to get to the store before purchasing it. I am sooo happy with it ... it's warm, it's elegant and it's casual! What more can a girl ask for ... well ..........
I'm 5'7" tall and 145 lbs, and thought the medium fits okay.. a bit snug but I'm not doing cartwheels or anything outdoors so I'm fine with that. My only problem is that the zipper, for a boot-length coat mind you, ends at fingertip length.. mid-thigh! Nowhere near even my knees. What is the point of that? I thought LL Bean field tested all their products? Considering the zipper can open from both the top and the bottom, it is disappointing that the zipper is not the full length of the coat. It's almost like they just decided to use the leftover zippers from the shorter version of this same coat. Still, it's comfy and snuggly so I'm keeping it. I hope I can find a tailor to put a new zipper in though.
Prior to my purchase, I did read many of the reviews, which was the only reason I ordered a LARGE size instead of my normal MEDIUM. I am so glad I did! This coat has fitted arms and shoulders, so if you tend to wear heavy sweatshirts, sweaters, etc, go with the larger size. I'm 5'6" and am 130 pounds and the Large size was perfect for me. It doesn't feel tight in the shoulders as I'm afraid the MED would have.
I wanted to love this coat, sadly, it turned out to be less than lovable. On all the colors the imitation "fleece" has light colored "tipping" that looks cheap and is so extremely unappealing it is the downfall of the coat.
