I just received this hoodie in Sweet Pea, size XL. I'm glad I checked out the reviews and went up a size. Now, to be honest, I usually get Bean shirts in a size L as long as they are knit and will stretch. I find that the XL is usually too big for me, despite my chest measurement solidly fitting into the XL size guidelines.
Here goes my rundown of the size XL Fleece Lined Hoodie: My bust is 45". The XL size fits me perfectly. I've got a little bit of room at the bust but I am not swimming in it. I will most likely be wearing this hoodie with a t-shirt underneath it. When laid flat, the XL measures 24" across the bust and about 23-23.5" across the waist. The sleeves are approx. 25" long and the back length is also approx. 25"
The lining inside is silky and warm. I don't mind the cotton lining in the sleeves, but consider that I do live in Florida! The outside shell is a sueded cotton and feels wonderful. The only velvet I can find on this sweatshirt is on the zipper pulls (1 each on the pockets and of course the main zipper for a total of 3).
The princess seaming adds to the trim look of the hoodie. It's definitely a lot nicer than the mens sweatshirts I've got in my closet.
Bean should consider making this in the Plus sizes as the trim fit is very flattering and what woman doesn't want that?
I'll be wearing mine tomorrow as a cold front is coming through Florida (a high of only 64 degrees -- I know, hate me all you want!!!).
Although I think it's overpriced, this hoodie is the best. Best advised to order 1 size larger than recommended, probably due to the fuzzy layer taking up space. It's super warm and very cute.
I'm cool now because I have such a fashionable, cozy hoodie, but I don't get to wear it much because my teen daughter has claimed it. It is a great layering piece and will be a great jacket for those cool summer nights in Alaska.
