In general I have been very happy with LL Bean products which is why I was so surprised what happened with these boots. They fit fine (so it seemed) but after being in them just 15 minutes, the outsides of my shins became sore and ended up with black and blue marks! My shins are still tender 2 weeks later! They were very stiff and felt like ski boots. I didn't find them to be as warm as I had hoped either - my feet got cold in them in 0 degree temps while walking.
The boots were very warm. I like the boots but it made my shin very sore. I think it they werent so loose at the top they wouldnt flop around and rub your shin so much. The boot is very hard to the touch. They should be softer. I wore them snow tubing and my feet did not get cold at all.
I was hesitant to buy these boots after reading some unfavorable comments, but they really aim to please! I am out in the mud and snow all winter feeding horses. These boots are easy to put on and take off and keep your feet so warm. They are totally waterproof, even in the deep wet mud. The were comfortable from the first wear. I hate to use them as just work boots - I have hosed off thick coats of muck and mire to enjoy them on hikes. Buy these boots.
