I bought this raincoat for a trip to Scotland last year, and it was just right. It is light, and doesn't take up much room in a suitcase. The length of the coat made it a little dressier than a rain jacket, and kept my legs dry and warm when it was wet and windy. The hood is adjustable from back to front, so you can set it to protect your face without having it droop down and obstruct your eyes.
I usually wear a large size, but ordered an XL, and was not sorry. I can fit a sweater or fleece underneath without a struggle, and I don't mind a little extra room with a coat.
This raincoat is just what I have been looking for. It is pretty and practIcal and it fits great. I ordered a medium and it seemed like it would be too tight to wear anything under it so LL Bean cheerfully exchanged it for a larger size without a single problem
I was worried about the fit of this coat, so I emailed LL Bean Customer Service, who provided very helpful measurements of the "sweep" (the hem). I was worried about the fit over my hips. I bought my usual XL size and it is perfect - enough room for a sweater or fleece underneath. It is slighty a-line and not too boxy - fits well. I am 5'10" so it comes a couple of inches above my knee, but that's okay. I didn't find the zipper to be a problem. It's a nice, lightweight raincoat. I bought it in Meadow Violet and although I probably would not have chosen the colour if it was not on sale, I think it is very pretty. Another great Bean product!
I am returning this item. The fit was off - I wear Medium in all LLBean clothes, but this one fit like a Small. However, the length was fine. The crinkly sound as I put it on -- sounded like wearing a plastic bag. Not the caliber of LLBean products.
