This is a great, lightweight rain coat. You can roll it up and put it in your purse or knapsack if the sun comes out. The velcro tab on the hood is a neat little feature (to adjust the size of the hood) and I especially like the mesh pockets. The length of this coat is what appealed to me as well because it's hard to find a waterproof coat that is down to your knees. I have this coat in periwinkle, my sister has it in cobalt blue and my sister in law has the lily pond color. We all love them.
We bought a men's and women's raincoat for a cruise to Alaska. They worked very well. They were very compact to roll up in a little backpack for carrying. They provided excellent rain protection. The hood even fit over my brimmed trail hat. They also provided great wind protection as a top layer when out watching glaciers from the cruiseboat.
I was looking for a rain coat to take with me to Costa Rica where I will be living for six months. I had lived there four months before and knew I needed a good rain coat that wouldn't be too hot for the tropics. This is a perfect weight and length for the downpours that can occur at anytime there. I am staying on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica where it is truly the rain forest!! Thanks LL Bean.
