This is a great raincoat, lightweight and very waterproof. It kept me dry in downpours and also blocked the wind. Easy to pack - it went to France with me.
I had purchased this trail model rain coat about a month ago. I wore it to a rainy Red Sox game but had a lot of trouble with the zipper. I sent it back and now have a new one with a better zipper. The jacket runs large so that you can layer underneath it, so don't order up. The day of the Red Sox game I was able to layer a heavy ( also LL Bean) fleece and it fit fine. Others have said the hips run small, I do not find that to be true. I am 5"1" and normally wear a medium, I think I could fit in a small, but like the extra room for layering. The jacket kept me nice and dry at the game.
I purchased this raincoat as I had nothing that really provided real waterproof rain protection. I also wanted something that covered my legs and head. I haven't tried it in a downpour but have purchased the short version of this coat for my son before and it does keep the water out very well. The sizing was just right-I wear a medium and I wouldn't have wanted it any bigger. I sometimes wear a blazer to work and it fits perfectly under this coat. I would not size up or it would really be too big. I got the carbon color and I love it. Not every female wants pink and light green (pastels). I am very much a more neutral color person. It is lightweight, but not too much. The hood is adjustable and keeps from falling in your face so you can see. Very nice quality. Also, has the zip from the bottom feature which comes in handy when you are driving or sitting. Love this coat and would highly recommend it. Also would really appreciate LLBean offering more women's wear in neutral colors year round (gray, brown, black for example in sweaters).
exactly what I needed, a light weight coat to keep out the rain and wind that covers all the way to my knees. I bought an XL which fits loosely so sizing seems pretty right to me. I rated it four stars (as opposed to 5) only because it's a little noisy when I move.
