I bought it to use as a travel raincoat and have tried it out during rainy weather at home first. It has kept me dry, fits comfortably over a medium weight fleece jacket and will pack in very little space. Replacing the hook-and-loop closures with snaps would prevent if from attaching to my fleece or sweater if not entirely closed. Either a stuff sack or packing into one of its pockets would be a useful addition.
Was a little worried about this after reading some of the reviews but fear not its another quality product from L.L. Bean. I'm not sure what people mean when they say it has a slimy feeling when its wet? Feels normal and wet when its wet. It is thin but doesn't feel flimsy or cheap at all. The only thing it could use is a little more room from the waist down, the cut is a bit narrow.
