This is a great rain coat to fit in a small closet, backback or suitcase. I ordered one size larger because I may want to put a jacket beneath it; it is quite lightweight.
My daughter, a college Junior, was about to leave for her boyfriend's fraternity's annual Mountain Weekend in N.C. The weather prognosticators were calling for serious rain, so, on the Monday before the Friday road-trip was to commence, I placed an order for this raincoat in Periwinkle Blue. Despite my not paying for overnight shipping, it was delivered to my daughter just before her departure. As a dad, I've often been lampooned for my past selections of women's clothing articles ("Dad, NOBODY wears THOSE nowadays!"), but this time I was vindicated. My daughter told me that she'd received "tons" of compliments from the other girls at the Frat Weekend, with one referring to it "as your pretty raindress", and she, unlike many of her friends, remained dry throughout the soggy weekend. The coat is lightweight but well designed, and the just-below-the-knee length is perfect for a college kid wearing jeans. I ordered her a Rugged Ridge Parka last year about this time, and my daughter loved that one as well. I guess you could say I'm now a two-time winner. Prompt service and great products, and they guarantee them for as long as you own them . What else could you ask for from a company in this day and time?
I was uneasy about buying the teal color -- but now that I've seen it, it is just beautiful! A very light, fresh color. I like the longer rain coat style. I am petite, but the coat was not too long.
This was my first purchase from L.L. Bean, and I will definitely be back! I purchased this in Lily Pond - a bright, pretty green. There are a few things I would like to note. I first ordered the small size based on several of the reviews saying that the raincoat is roomy and can go over sweaters, etc. It IS roomy, but, ladies, if you are large-busted, you will probably want to order the next size up. It "pulled" on me and there is no way it would have worked with both factors of large bust AND sweaters. So, I sent it back for the medium which is wonderfully roomy. Also, I'm not quite 5'3" and it falls above my knees. None of the above was meant to sound bad - just informational. The coat is lightweight and fits compactly in the bag that I carry to work. Now I don't mind the rainy days at all. No umbrella to tote...awesome!! Rain beads up and rolls right off. Thank you for a great product, L.L. Bean! And, btw, you have some very nice people in Customer Service. :-)
