I recently bought this coat, though I didn't think I would have the opportunity to "test drive" it until next spring. I thought any precipitation we'd have from here on out would be accompanied with cold air and thus the need for a heavier coat. But the "rush to winter" we were experiencing reversed to more normal fall temperatures and with the warmer weather came a full day of rain. So I had the chance to try out this coat, after all. Let me sum it up this way: IT WORKED. It repelled water, TOTALLY. The hood is designed in such a way to keep rain off your forehead, which is the first time that's happened for me. The longer length is good, too; keeps your thighs dry. I opted for the spring green color; it suits me and is bright and cheery. I did not get that "suffocating" feeling while outside with it on, though I was beginning to perspire with it on when I went inside a building to conduct some business which wound up taking a bit longer than usual. I suppose I would experience that in ANY coat. I will be interested to see how it performs--if it is truly breathable--during some hot summer downpour. I am confident it will be WAY better than say, a yellow rubber slicker. Overall, I am very pleased with this item thus far and glad to know I have a rain coat that will actually repel water; very good to have since I walk everyday, regardless of the elements.
This coat is very lightweight, and will probably work well to stay dry without over heating during walks or other outdoor activities during mild weather. However, it arrived very wrinkled, and I had to press it just to make it presentable enough to wear anywhere. It was hard to get the wrinkles out. This coat is ok, and I'll be able to use it, but it's not attractive.
I wanted a rain coat for my fitness walking and couldn't be happier with my purchase. The coat is long enough, provides enough room in case you'll need a sweater and is even comfortable on a warmer day. I never knew anything could be breathable AND waterproof as Gortex, but this coat is every bit as good.
