This is an excellent rain coat for a California winter. I purchased it as a present for my wife and she loves it. It really keeps you dry and can be warned up with layers. I agree with the comment that LL Bean should use better zippers, but the concern that the material is too thin and not durable does not ring true for me. It is not as durable as my LL Bean Gor-tex foul weather jacket which I have used since 1976, but it is just fine for walking the dog and running errands. I would also prefer it to a hiking poncho.
I had been looking for a "rain coat" and not a parka that is water proof. I also wanted something different and not just another "london fog" brown business coat. I got the lavender color. This was it! I get compliments every time I wear it. It is me!!
My wife lost her rain jacket. I bought her the Trail Rain Coat. She loves it. It is an excellent length and weight. The sizing was correct and the features of the coat made it even better. Sorry I hadn't gotten her one before.
