Really like this coat. Real rain gear. Made sure I got it big enough to fit over other coats. I wear a 14, and am 5'- 11" I bought x-tra large. Glad I did. Zipper is difficult as are all these up from the bottom zippers. The velcro works well when you are in a hurry. I like the light weight quality. Bought it for camping at the beach, but wear it to work over coats also. I'm pleased with this purchase.
Bought it in brown for my college sophomore in rainy Lexington, KY. Looks darling and fits her campus lifestyle. Heavy enough for chilly rainy days and light enough for summer rains.
You can't go wrong with this one. I absolutely dread going out in the rain. There are frequent downpours here in all seasons. Even my dog has a rain coat. This jacket, along with my LL Bean waterproof rain hat and Storm Chaser footwear, are hands down my most valuable items among many from LLBean. When Bean promises it's waterproof, it's waterproof. I have a veritable arsenal of rain gear from them, including a couple of windbreakers, tall wellies, short wellies, umbrella, and waterproof winter coat. I've had this same Trail Model Rain Coat for years, and it has held up under a ridiculous amount of use. Because of the material and high quality construction, after years of wear mine still looks new. Packable, "travel" gear? Okay, but the items I've mentioned are all staples in my closet. Fortunately they had my favorite color "eggplant" then, so a lot of them match and it's the perfect color for me. I won't buy anything bright. This coat is really versatile because it accommodates layering with bulky sweatshirts and sweaters for winter sleet, yet it's lightweight enough for warm weather rain. Mine fits fine either way. Its understated, neutral looks make it appropriate to wear pretty much everywhere (especially in the dark color I have). At this price it's a real steal. Most important, it really truly is totally waterproof, as is the amazing rain hat. Or I assure you, I'd be sending them all back in a heartbeat.
I took this rain coat to Ireland. I loved it. It acted as a rain coat and a wind breaker. There I wore a sweater and vest under it. I ordered medium, as the rep I called said it was oversized. The size was perfect. I am a size 12. It is nice looking, easy to pack (takes up very little room), and is long enough to cover most everything I wear.
