This is my second wind challenger fleece jacket. I love them! Its true what some of the other reviewers have written, that the fleece isn't as soft and plush as the comfort fleece, but if you want a light weight jacket to block wind and keep you warm, this is definitely the one. I got the purple this year. It is a little brighter than the picture but very pretty.
I am happy with this Jacket it does what it says and blocks the wind. Black is much darker than pictured, fabric is a little rough, but as far as keeping me warm and blocking the wind it does the job.
ProsDurable, Comfortable, Performing as Expected, amazingly warm!
I never write reviews but just had to for this jacket. I'm one of those people who is always cold so I wasn't sure if this jacket was going to work for me when I first bought it. I just came back from wearing it on a 3 week trek in a remote region of the Himalaya's in Northern Nepal. We were riding horses and trekking 6 hours a day. Starting at noon the winds would begin and they would be so strong and cold sometimes that it was hard to stand up! I layered this jacket over a light weight turtleneck and light weight "fitness" fleece and I was never cold in my upper body!! The fabric is very durable and it held up great. At night I used it as a pillow in my sleeping bag. I was so happy with the performance of this jacket that I bought a second color as soon as I returned home. Also it washed up beautifully after the trip and looks brand new now! Highly recommended!!
I'll admit I'm hard to fit--short and pear-shaped--but this jacket wasn't even in the ballpark. In a large (which I can generally wear) the sleeves were way too tight over only a long-sleeved T-shirt. It was also tight in the hips (which I expect with my shape) but HUGE across the chest. It seemed like one size in the upper torso and a size smaller in the sleeves and lower part.
