After 17 years living in Maine, I moved to San Francisco, where the weather is more moderate. Nonetheless, it can be quite chilly and very windy. having worked in the LL Bean flagship store for 6 years, I knew just the product to order--the Hooded Wind Challenger. It is totally suited to the climate here--completely blocks the wind, and the hood stays up to prevent heat loss. And it passes San Francisco fashion muster! I love it!

I had gotten a different jacket (because it fit strange), and exchanged it for this one. I didn't know what to expect with the Deep Capri/Astral Blue color, I thought it'd be more Sky Blue than anything. I was wrong! It is a beautiful almost Turquoise color, and fits perfectly in an XS, most jackets in that size still are too big for me. I am happy to get this jacket in exchange for my old one!

I admit that my wind challenger fleece is several years old. All those other less expensive, cozy fleeces are great for cool weather. But if you hike, walk on fall/winter beaches or sit on school bleachers in the fall and spring, and really need to guard against a cold wind, this is the material for you. I wore it yesterday in a cold wind and every time I do, cannot believe how it blocks the wind from coming through. It is worth it!

I got this a couple of years ago back when I was still in college, it kept me warm on the many windy days on campus. Even when I'm out over the water on a windy day the parts of me covered by this jacket were nice and warm.
