... and it *does* keep me completely dry. i don't know how, i just know it does. my guy loves it, too: for a while, i couldn't find it, so bought a replacement (he was using it)... so i bought him one for christmas, too. he uses it every night to break the chill in southern california "winter." i use it when it's windy or wet or extra cold here in the snowy mountains of arizona, or when i need room to move around (shoveling etc). when not so cold, it's too warm for me (strong internal heater at this time of life), so i use fleece hoodie instead and sometimes a lined vest. this jacket is lightweight enough for me to wear the hoodie and vest underneath, as needed. i can well imagine using it for winter sports, and tucking it in a backpack if i got too warm. very happy! note: this is not your typical fleece: think of it as more of a very warm shell with soft fleece finish. it's less "fluffy" and more "plastic-y," if that makes any sense. the hood is just right.
I was really looking forward to receiving this jacket. I wanted something warm and light weight. This seemed to fit the bill. I read so many reviews that warned of short sleeves, but I wanted to try it anyway. It's going back. The red was too bright for me and the sleeves were too short. I'm going to try the cresta fleece....but I'm worried because it doesn't come in Womens sizes.
Best fleece jacket for the money. The Wind Challenger Fleece is worth every single penny. Lightweight and not bulky but they keep you warm! It's amazing how much wind they truly block compared to other fleece brands out there. I have more than one of these and never hesitate when I catch these on sale. I've had one of these now for more than 3 years and it has held up very well. I am a medic and tough on clothes, and it has survived countless shifts when other fleece jackets have not.
I ordered the blue this time - I also have it in the brown & the red. These jackets are great for our winters - they protect against wind & rain without being bulky.
