While it's not as soft as some of the plush fleece jackets, it's soft enough especially since it's windproof and water resistant. It's lightweight and warm with out getting you overheated like some rain jackets. I really like the design of the hood and the neat zipper pull cover at the top. I did order a Large when I usually order Medium and it fits great with enough room to get a sweater under it.

Love the Bean wind Challenger Fleece----lightweight fleece, super handy pockets, and just perfect for windy 3 season walks. I also found mitmto be comfortable for my hour long snowshoeing.
I like the wind-blocking material used to make the jacket. The only disappointment I had with it was that it was cut much smaller than the other women's jackets. I had to return the large size to get an extra large, finding that it is still a bit too snug in the chest area.
It's true. It really is windproof! Plus, it's stylish, not bulky and fits well. This is my second hooded windproof fleece. I just wanted a different color :-) I wear it on early morning walks.
