My 18 y/o daughter and I have owned this jacket for a couple years and it is a perfect Southern CA jacket because it is medium weight and absolutely blocks the wind chill factor. We live near the beach and it is often very breezy. Don't expect it to be super soft and comfy like other fleece jackets that don't block the wind, but it is definitely soft enough.

I purchased this jacket for one of my daughters, and she wore it on a trip to cold Scotland. It was an excellent jacket as it kept her quite cozy, and it was also very lovely, warm, practical, and durable. She actually wore it underneath another bulky coat as it was particularly windy; however, it could have been worn on its own.
The jacket is terrific, but for the sizing. The ladies small is remarkably smaller than the men's small: much shorter in length and sleeves, much narrowed in the shoulder by a couple sizes at least, and cut for a very slim person throughout the body. Not sure whether to jump straight to a large or medium for a fairly slight, small person (5-3, 130).
I've loved windblocker fleece jackets but always wanted a hood. Sewed my own snap on hood, which works "okay" but not as good as a permanent attached hood. The fit is great, works well and hood fits well, though it doesn't have a tie or way to tighten it down. If you zip all the way up it stays up fine even in a big wind.
