I've lived in Florida for the last 60 years and I get cold watching snow on TV. My husband and I are full-time RVers and get into all kinds of weather, but because of space and weight limits, don't carry my bulky cold weather clothes. This jacket is what I've been looking for - the fabric is not bulky, the jacket is a bit large, which makes it perfect to put several lightweight layers beneath, and it does an admirable job blocking the wind. It's a jacket I wear from 20 to 60 with varying layers. I also bought the matching gloves which I wear with and without liners and love them as well.
This jacket runs BIG, I wear a Medium (5'2" 125) I was swimming in it. Def order size down. I thought this jacket would be good in the wind as it is called wind challenger...nope. I tested in 20*/25* ish temps, I froze. Might be good for fall days, not winter days.
I have fleece jackets, but none with hoods. My hooded jackets are more the type for rain, and are heavier or longer. Sometimes when it's just a little chilly & windy but not raining, I want a hood on a fleece jacket, to keep my hair in place. This does exactly that. It is something I've been looking for, for a long time. The fit is nice (trim, not baggy), and the hood works great incorporated into the zipper.
