ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, washes well
Anyone who's read my reviews knows that I have Sheet Issues. My hunt for crisp, substantial percale summer sheets has assumed the proportions of a quest for the Holy Grail (and equally frustrating).
Thank goodness it's cool here in Belgium for most of the year. That way, we can sleep under these sheets -- which are the best flannel sheets I've ever owned.
I bought my first two sets of sheets (in white) about three years ago. They went on our bed and have been used for about 8 months per year.
I bought the second set (again in white) last October for our guest bed. I'm now in the process of ordering another set for the guest bed.
When comparing the three-year-old sheets to the ones I purchased in October of last year, I can see that the older ones have lost a bit of fluffiness and that angora fur softness of the brand new sheets. Having said that, compared to sheets from other companies which saw the same amount of wear and tear, the Bean sheets have held up much, much better.
Great value for money, and, if Bean continues to maintain their exceptional quality, I'd not hesitate to purchase them again and again. Too bad their percale is so disappointing...
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, energy-saver, mix-and-match choices
These cozy flannel sheets are something to look forward to this winter.
Last year, to try out the quality of the product, I purchased the pillowcases and the fitted sheet in Ice Blue. I chose a solid color on the pillowcases as this works best for monogramming. Now, after a winter of weekly washings, the sheet and cases appear almost new. They have actually gotten softer with wear.
This is truly the best flannel I've ever owned: soft, sturdy and virtually lint-free.
I decided to buy a matching floral for some color and to serve as a summer blanket.
I am grateful to LL Bean for making it possible to purchase pillowcases and sheets separately and in mix/match colors. This enhances what is already a quality investment.
I absolutely love these sheets! Unlike some other reviewers, I love the elastic all the way around on the fitted sheets. They may be a little harder to put on, but they never slide around or fall off the corners. They are sized generously to fit the new mattresses and the top sheets are plenty long so that they never come untucked. The softness is what I really like. They are SO soft and never pill. We use them year round and use the top sheet alone on hot summer nights. We have had them for several years, and they wear really well.
We just bought a new adjustable bed (two twin extra long). This is how much I love these sheets: I bought 3 standard twin sheets and cut and sewed them to make two twin extra long sheets. So my only request to LL Bean is to start carrying these sheets in twin extra long.
